This week the kids had a couple days off school, so we got outside for our February Nature Walk, learning more from our book and workbook, "The Nature Connection". It was a beautiful day, clear skies and sunny...perfect, except for all the brown color everywhere...can't wait for some spring green!
Immediately they spotted the small creek...and soft cat-tails...
With increasing daylight hours this time of year, we looked for signs of animals that would be out and about, and for things to collect. I asked, "What do you hear?" "birds singing, cars (we were in a park), hammering noises..." Not much, but good to ask, I am hoping they will continue to stop and listen to what is around them in nature...
Tovrea recorded what he saw...some ducks in the pond, some duck tracks in the sand, and some other tracks he decided must have been deer. He drew them in the journal while the other two walked around together...
Then it was time to head back...CoCo and Quin lead the way together...
It was a nice morning, we had fun together. To see more photos like this next one click on the read more link below.
Great work you all observing nature. Great time had by all!
ReplyDeleteThey will all remember fondly these Nature walks, because the 3 siblings will have been doing something together.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what their Destinies have in store for them, but for the time being these outings together as a family will be forever treasured. I still remember my own outings with my family....And that's a long time ago! :-)
Do I agree with you Rach, in that I'm so looking forward to some GREEN around us. Can't stand this brown blanket covering our ground!!
These photos are great, Rach! I can't get over how much those three have grown since last we saw them! Love the Nature Walks...I want to take one with T, C and Q!!! Love you all...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! We may steal it from you. :)
