Coffee House Poetry

Tovrea's first grade class invited the parents to school on Friday for a morning of Coffee House Poetry.  The room was decorated with all the windows covered, and lamps throughout the room. The front of the classroom was changed into the "stage area" for all the kids to perform readings of their very own poems.  There was hot chocolate and cookies for everyone to enjoy.  All the poets were dressed in black which added to the ambiance.  I hear from Tovrea how much he loves poetry, what a wonderful lesson in first grade!

Cats

Cats jump like
a shooting star.
Run like
a jet.
Catch fish like
a fishing pole.
Sit like
a ninja.
Sweet kitty!

Surfing
by  Tovrea Freeman

Surfing.
You ride the wave,
Twirling
in the wave.
It's so fun!
You ride on a
hard board.
The wave
chases you!
All the
waves say
"Hey!"
I love it!

  1. T-Man, I see now that you can be just as artistic writing poems as when you paint.
