Summer Reading- Boys Book Club

Summer reading list for boys! We met once a week for eight weeks!

The Unforgettable Season. The story of Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams in 1941. How they achieved their records that have never been broken in 70 years. A little bit of sports history.
Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies.  The story of a brave buccaneer that learns to read books when all the other scurvy pirates make fun of him for keeping his nose in a book.  In the end, the smart bunny saves the day! A lesson of being yourself.
The Real Story of the Three Little Pigs. The boys got a kick out of this classic story told from the wolf's perspective. The wolf spins this story as one big misunderstanding...do we believe the wolf's tale? Filled with humor.
The Rainbow Goblins. Originally published in 1978, this tale pulls in the reader with vivid wild colors with a tale of mischievous gobblins out to steal the colors of the rainbow. Mystery and fantasy.
The Story of Ferdinand. An all time favorite for more than 60 years, Ferdinand the bull is mellow and content smelling the flowers in the field, until forced into a uncomfortable situation for a mellow bull ...a real bull fight.  How will he handle it? What ends up happening is one of the happiest endings of all stories. Classic, historical, and sweet.
The Wild Boy.  In 1800, France a boy was found living all alone in the woods. He was wild, living among the animals and surviving the elements. The story shows what happened as the boy was taken in by a doctor and loving woman. He could not talk, he never could tell his story but he learned to live a new life.  All the boys couldn't help but wonder what had happened to the boy.  A true story, sad yet uplifting too.
The Gum Chewing Rattler.  Every boys dream- chewing gum, telling wild tales and a rattlesnake. A young boy tells the story of bubble gum saving his life! Intrigue and tall tales.
Manfish the Story of Jacques Cousteau.  Starting with his childhood in France, this books reveals the curiosity and interests of a young Jacques that lead him to a most amazing passion as an inventor and preservationist of our planets ocean and ocean life. Biography and history.
