In the morning as I got ready for my day, I suddenly realized it was a little too quiet. The exact right mixture of familiar sounds was not there. Hmmm, trouble...but no, from the bathroom mirror I turned my head to see all three of them like this:
I sprang into action with this picture perfect moment and walked briskly past them, through the living room to get the camera and walked past again to get back to my exact spot. Success! They did not even notice. Well, yes...they were watching TV! Gasp.... it's true...we watch tv here. For any amount of time that it can capture all 3 of them (at the same time) like this-well, I take it. I throw my hair in a ponytail, put on a some make up, make a bed or two, clean the dishes out of the sink, call the Dr to reschedule appointments, and I humbly admit I get it done with Nickelodeon! Oh, do my kids love the Fresh Beat Band!!!
I know about the studies that say no tv, I know we should be reading or doing puzzles, I know...and we do.
I take these moments, I actually need these moments. As it is, the house is often a wreck, without these tv breaks there would seriously be no hope in getting to anything. My guess is, there are many many families just like mine that try their best to do all the right things all while having their own secret moments made possible by the good old tv.
I completely understand Rach....If it weren't for some TV breaks and more importantly, those precious SCHOOL days, you would have practically no life of your own! :-)
ReplyDeleteBesides, it's not as if they're watching the latest Rambo...
